Our fake president is at it again…Should we boycott the NFL again this year?
” This is why we must boycott, to demonstrate that players have the right to speak up and not have their voices silenced. They are not your chattel, you do not own them. ”
We’re entering the second year of the NFL boycott and I was asked if I still felt the boycott was necessary and if I felt it was making a difference.
I paused for moment and immediately replied, ” if they’re still killing unarmed black folks, then yes!”
As a former football fan, choosing to boycott was not an easy decision.
My Sundays revolved around football, I loved my team, faithfully wore my #9 Brees Saints jersey. I was one who couldn’t wait for football season to begin. When pre season came, I was the type who would watch. Eager to just to have a taste of the upcoming season on screen in High Def and surround sound.
So in essence, I completely understand the disconnect.
Why some won’t give up watching that physical sport we watch every Sunday for 5 and a half months, for many it’s an much needed escape.
Why some, through sheer rationalization and adamant denial, just don’t believe boycotting the NFL will change anything.
As much as others aren’t sold on the boycott, I’ve realized that huge corporations at the end of the day are most concerned with two things.
Their public image and profit margins.. People are not included in that factor unless we’re talking about the people spending money, dollar signs.
The NFL doesn’t seem to have much of an issue when one of its players physically assaults and abuses their girlfriend or wife.
Those cowardice, heinous acts are given a pass. Casually overlooked.
Whether law enforcement pursues charges, the NFL automatically goes into the damage control media spin.
Trying to minimize the damage already done at the hands of their beloved players. A statement is issued from the NFL, along with fining & suspending the player, mandatory anger management classes and everything goes back to business as usual.
Here is the irony of it all,The NFL doesn’t seem to have a problem with domestic violence or drugs or DUIs from their players.
However if a player decides to speak out against the injustices going on with people of color in this country on a day-to-day basis. Then that’s a no no.
They cannot allow that. The NFL must silence & shut it down immediately. Instead of taking a stand WITH the players, because this decision is a freedom and their right to silently protest an anthem that celebrates a painful history for African Americans.
The owners side with Trump.
The owners side with injustice.
As long as the players obey their oppressors.
Standing up to injustice is a God fearing right entitled tofeveryone.
For the NFL to side and align with the oppressors, tells me just how much our lives matter to them.
Their players are their field negroes and players like the Quartback for Dallas Cowboys , Daz Prescott, will obey and listen to whatever his owner tells him to do.
Jerry Jones ( huge contributor to Trump campaign) is the owner of the Dallas Cowboys who tells who tells his (fieldhands) players that if they decide to speak out against those atrocities that occur in their communities, by kneeling during the National Anthem, that they will be suspended.
Now if that’s not the master/ slave mentality ,I don’t know what else is. The owner is warning the slave that if he bothers to even try to run or ever try to be free, he’s going to get punishment from the owner…his owner…*
This is why we must boycott, to demonstrate that players have the right to speak up and not have their voices silenced. They are not your chattel, you do not own them.
We have to send a message. We see who you’re aligned with and we refuse to allow you to profit at their expense.
